Second Year Chapter- 2.1

 ONE

Well back to university, not sure exactly when it started with the sudden few classes and then the days of no classes I have no idea what week this is.

All I can say is we have been introduced into the new briefs that seem to be similar to last terms assignments. 

One assignment that we will be keeping the same is the third year projects that I have been working on since the beginning of this year. The one I am working on is called heroes wanted. Which I have done some work for this week thought sadly I haven’t had any feedback from it so I’m in the dark about that.

We have been given an assignment to create a robot character design which was fun to do but the annoying/nice thing about the assignment was that the students we are creating the design for don not have a well-developed idea of their story line for their animation not giving us much to go on but at the same time giving us a better range on what we can create for them.

Not really sure how much we had to put together for them I decided to make some designs then choose my favourite one. I then copied that design many times and added colour to each one before putting it onto Facebook asking everyone to comment on their favourite one. Allowing me to know what colour people most liked and best suited the robot.

I then carried on to drawing the different sides of the robot and a sheet of emotion that the motions showed.

Thought this was not the only thing I did these past two weeks.

I ended up helping Rebecca and a third year on another animation that they were creating for a theatre company who were doing the performance the ‘Wind and the Willows’.

While I was helping them out with the project I went out of my comfort zone and only created animations that I had to create in Photoshop before putting them into after effects to animate them properly. It took me a little while to animate them as I’m usually the one creating backgrounds but I’m pleased to say they came out quite well and I’m happy with the way they turned out.

I ended up doing a few butterflies, roses, yellow tulips and a bumble bee that buzzes around.

All the while I was doing that I was also panicking as I had to find a group to work with on one of my projects and it seemed that all the groups were already forming around me leaving me out. I did asked to join a few most replied they were already full apart from one were the were doing stop animation. Though it’s not my strong point I wanted to work with them and expanded my skills but I was rejected by them. Don’t ask me why because I knew they only had three of four people in there group and as the maximum number was six people they had gaps available. Which frustrated me a little.

Eventually thought I found some people to work with and they were much more exciting as they were new to the class as they had come on the exchange program. I was looking forward to working with them and they seemed like very nice people. Eventually someone else joined us, somebody who I worked with before on shelter box and I was more than happy when they joined.

Thing started off slow with them but now it’s coming together as we have now settled on the project about hate crime. We have defined what part of hate crime we wished to do; discrimination in culture. And now we are thinking of ideas that incorporates them.
